Paul ReFalo

Data Scientist

Paul is a data scientist and software developer with more than 20 years of experience bridging the worlds of science, technology and analytics. In his role at Bendable Labs, he provides statistical analysis using Python and R to support the company’s work with the Wall Street Journal Leadership Institute. In one chapter of his diverse career, Paul spent nearly a decade as a forensic scientist with the Oregon State Police Forensic Services Division, designing and building its post-mortem toxicology program and testifying regularly in state and federal courts as an expert witness. He holds an M.S. in data analytics from Oregon State University, an M.S. in biochemistry from Oregon Health Sciences University and a B.S. in chemistry from the University of Colorado. Paul began his career as a radar technician in the U.S. Air Force, maintaining systems worldwide from 1988 to 1992. He is skilled in statistical analysis, machine learning, PyTorch, R, Python and other programming languages. In his spare time, in addition to taking on data-visualization projects and exploring new analytical techniques, he enjoys chess, cooking and hiking.
